Defining absolute rarity of a coin is not possible. But whatever possible is, someone can estimate the rarity of a coin based on experience and exposure. We can classify the degree of rarity of coins based on their actual mintage and availability in market. These two criteria can be used for defining the degree of rarity of a coin. thus coins can classified into following categories based on their rarity.
- Extremely rare - Eg: 1955 2 Anna
- Rare - Eg: 1982 One Rupee (Small)
- Slightly rare - Eg: Netaji Subhash Chandra Bhose 2 Rupee 1996
- Scarce - Eg: Tilakji Cu-Ni 5 Rupee Broken Legend
- Slightly Scarce - Eg: 2004 2 Rupee, Kolkata Mint
- Easily available - Eg: 2011 one Rupee, Mudra saymbol, Noida mint

20 Paise-1997, Hyderabad Mint
IX Asian Games Delhi -1982, Hyderabad Mint
One Rupee-1954, Bombay Mint
